Response to Intervention Program Overview

At Southampton Township Schools, our Response to Intervention (RTI) program is designed to ensure that every student receives the academic support needed to grow and succeed. RTI is a proactive, data-informed approach that allows our educators to identify student needs early, provide targeted support, and closely monitor progress over time.

Our RTI program is built around a multi-tiered system of support. All students receive high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in the general education classroom. Universal screening, benchmark assessments, classroom performance, teacher observations, and other student data are used to identify students who may benefit from additional support.

When a student needs additional assistance, our teachers and intervention staff work collaboratively to provide targeted, evidence-based instruction focused on specific skill areas. The intensity and frequency of support may increase depending on the individual needs of the student. Students receiving intervention are progress monitored regularly so that our teams can determine whether the intervention is effective and make adjustments when necessary.

RTI is a collaborative and flexible process. Classroom teachers, interventionists, specialists, administrators, and families work together to support student growth. Decisions are based on multiple sources of data and a student's response to instruction and intervention rather than on a single assessment or score.

Through early identification, purposeful intervention, ongoing progress monitoring, and strong collaboration, Southampton Township Schools strives to provide students with the right support at the right time so that all learners have the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential.
