RTI Screening Description

School-wide screening

Southampton Township School District uses a Response to Intervention (RTI) process to proactively identify students who may benefit from additional academic support and to ensure that instruction is responsive to each learner’s needs.

As part of our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), students participate in universal screening and benchmark assessments throughout the school year. In grades K–5, Acadience Reading is administered three times annually—fall, winter, and spring—to assess foundational literacy skills and identify students who may be at risk for reading difficulties. Screening results are considered alongside classroom performance, teacher observations, and other assessment data to develop a comprehensive picture of each student’s progress.

Students who are identified as needing additional support receive targeted, evidence-based interventions matched to their specific areas of need. Classroom teachers, RTI staff, and other members of the school team work collaboratively to review student data, provide appropriate supports, and progress monitor students regularly to determine how they are responding to intervention. Instruction and interventions are adjusted based on student growth and ongoing data.

Our goal is to identify needs early, provide support promptly, and monitor progress consistently, while maintaining strong communication among educators and families. Through this collaborative and data-informed approach, Southampton Township Schools works to ensure that every student receives the level of support needed to grow and succeed.
